POLICE OFFICER - Qualified persons are invited to apply to the New Brighton Borough Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a police officer in the New Brighton Area Police Department. An application form and details of the selection process are available online be clicking the link below. Completed applications must be returned by 4:00 PM on Friday, August 1, 2025 to the New Brighton Police Department, 610 Third Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday or by emailing the completed application to nbapd@NewBrightonPA.org. The $35.00 application fee payable to the Borough of New Brighton is being waived for this application cycle.

Requirements: Residency within a 15 mile radius of New Brighton required within 18 months of appointment. Applicants must be PA Act 120 certified prior to appointment, possess a High School diploma or equivalent, hold a PA Class C operator’s license or equivalent, be a U.S. citizen, be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer, and meet all other Civil Service requirements.

The physical agility test and written examination will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 9:00 AM (arrive at 8:30 AM) at the Allegheny County Police Academy, 700 West Ridge Drive (North Park), Allison Park, PA 15101. Other mandatory components of the exam are an oral examination, a background check, a post offer medical examination, and a post offer psychological examination. A complete copy of the Civil Service hiring policy is available for inspection during regular business hours at the Police Department.
